APRIL 2 SCRIPTURE - ATTEND: BEARING FRUIT IN WORSHIP

2 Corinthians 3:12-18

  1. This week we will be starting a five week series in which we will think about the fruit that is produced by participating in the five parts of our discipleship process (Attend, Belong, Connect, Care and Call). This process is used by our church to help our members and constituents mature in their faith. They are also fruitful habits of the heart and we will consider together how they help our church bear fruit for God's Kingdom.

  2. "The Lord reigns,
    let the nations tremble;
    he sits enthroned between the cherubim,
    let the earth shake.
    Great is the Lord in Zion;
    he is exalted over all the nations.
    Let them praise your great and awesome name—
    he is holy." (Psalm 99:1-3)

    The Lord reigns. Enthroned in heaven, He is holy. The response of the nations (that is, all people) when the true nature of God is revealed is to tremble before Him as the earth shakes; to exalt and praise His great and awesome name. All praise, honor and glory belongs to the Lord, and we attend worship for that purpose; to exalt His name, for we have seen Him as He truly is, high and lifted up, holy, worthy of our praise. As we gather to worship this coming Sabbath, we will gather to glorify the Lord, in whom is our hope.
